Temen surgimiento de paramilitares en México – Alberto Najar – BBC Mundo

A la violencia que genera el tráfico de drogas en México se suma un nuevo actor: la sospecha de que podría haber grupos paramilitares que actúan en algunas regiones del país.
El tema causó alarma. Recientemente el Senado demandó al presidente Felipe Calderón un informe detallado sobre la probable existencia de "escuadrones de la muerte", que según legisladores son similares a los que operan en Colombia.
Hasta el momento las autoridades no han respondido al exhorto del Senado.
Pero según analistas, determinar si hay o no paramilitares involucrados en la lucha de carteles de narcotráfico es una tarea complicada.
En México la información oficial es insuficiente para conocer los riesgos de seguridad que han detectado las autoridades.
Y al mismo tiempo, en el país hay una "profesionalización de la violencia" causada -entre otros factores-, por la deserción de policías y militares hacia la delincuencia organizada, le dice a BBC Mundo Ernesto López Portillo, director del independiente Instituto para la Seguridad y la Democracia (Insyde).
"La hipótesis es que aprovechan los recursos humanos para generar grupos con experiencia, capacidad de fuego, estrategia y operación que los asemeja a paramilitares", explica el especialista.
