"Peacekeepers cleared roadblocks, and businesses reopened in the capital, Port-au-Prince, but protesters warned that chaos would return quickly if the government failed to rein in soaring food prices. The three days of protests and looting brought a swift political response, with most of Haiti’s 27 senators calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Jacques-Édouard Alexis. Residents said President René Préval should be replaced as well if he does not find a solution."
